The technological Scorpion Sting

In this article I would like to begin with a Zen Story and here how it goes:

"Two monks were washing their bowls in the river when they noticed a scorpion that was drowning. One monk immediately scooped it up and set it upon the bank. In the process he was stung. He went back to washing his bowl and again the scorpion fell in. The monk saved the scorpion and was again stung.

The other monk asked him, “Friend, why do you continue to save the scorpion when you know its nature is to sting?” “Because,” the monk replied, “to save it is my nature.”

This beautiful story explains everything about life and even more, but the part I wish to bring forth today is we know learning curves and technology sting us in many ways. I personally have trouble to cope with the velocity of the enhancement that is consistently ever changing and advanced .But remember this, no matter how many times we feel we fail to learn to maximize the usage of the tools or applications, never stop progressing. Keep moving forward. Learn the tips and tricks one step at a time. Start applying into your day to day work.

The sting of learning is similar to the scorpion that fell and being saved by the monk.

Be like the monk from not shying away nor decide to destroy it.

There is no evolution without involution

The evolution in this video, clearly can be seen of the effort which is “Evaluate Campus Recycling and  Green Initiatives”. In the end that initiative proven Energy efficiency projects has set new global benchmark. Now this is evolution.

But what is involution you may ask?

Notice the part of what inspired the mother when her son told her not to waste water as she was drifted away in her mind due to work. Her observation of her son’s Nature’s loving trait.

That information collected goes to her brain. There it evolves, learns and remain there.

Now this knowledge and wisdom must descend into her actions.

The flow of her thoughts, her ideas, her research done by evaluating, doing the comparison, presenting to the stake holders, the collaboration, the synergy between teams in Seattle, Sao Paulo Brazil and the rest of the world using Office Cloud productivity tools. She has dedicated her energy for this initiative, –this is involution. Her actions taken from her observation of her son’s nature is involution.

Now you may be wondering how this relates to technology?

Before evolution there was an involution, this means that something is sacrificed, in order to make it possible for something to evolve.  Meaning to say to save the scorpion is embedded in the nature of the Monk’s in the story but prior to that an involution took place of what is going on within him, his choices and his actions in spite of being stung by the scorpion. Watch this video and I will further explain.

That very action of hers, then led to something wonderful by creating a new benchmark.

The advancement of technology demonstrated here of Microsoft Project Portfolio Management. This is here, this is now and the future we are embarking.

Just as simple of saving a scorpion from drowning, isn’ t it?
In summary this is what I mean “The technological Scorpion Sting”. Learning may feel difficult but keep on progressing and ready to adapt. Embrace the changes.
We must remember technology evolution begins because of involution. Putting the wisdom and knowledge we have learn into actions. Be watchful of our behaviors  and gestures.
Turn the sting into nectar.
This doesn't limit to technology alone but try to reflect back about your life itself. Lots of love and lights~ Umeisha~
